Read this one bit if nothing else. Routes are generated by a computer from map data. Nobody has walked them, looked at them, or checked whether they are safe. Obey traffic rules, judge the road for yourself, and do not follow a line on a screen into something stupid.
What the routes are
A D-Tour route is a suggestion, not a survey. It is built automatically from OpenStreetMap data using a routing engine. That data is contributed by volunteers and can be out of date or wrong.
We do not check, and cannot tell you, whether a route:
- has a pavement, a shoulder, or any separation from traffic
- is lit, surfaced, gritted, or passable in the weather you have
- crosses private land, a building site, or a closed road
- is sensible to run alone, at night, or at all
You are responsible for your own safety and for obeying the law where you are running. If a route tells you to cross somewhere that looks wrong, it is wrong. Use the pavement.
Places we avoid
Shapes are not centred on schools, places of worship, hospitals, cemeteries, memorials or playgrounds. This is deliberate and it is enforced on the server, which refuses to run without the filter in place. It is a good-faith measure and not a guarantee: the underlying data is imperfect, and a route may still pass near somewhere you would rather it did not. Use judgement, and be a reasonable person about where you take a joke.
The service itself
D-Tour is a hobby project offered as-is, with no warranty and no guarantee of availability, accuracy or fitness for any purpose. It runs on one small server. It may be slow, refuse your request, or disappear. Nothing here is a paid service and nothing is owed to you.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Swedish law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Fair use
Do not automate against the API, scrape it, or try to knock it over. The rate limits are set for people, not scripts. There is one server and making it unusable spoils it for everyone.
